    Description

    This is an older piece carved by Tlingit master carver Dan Katzeek who was from Klukwan Alaska. Primarily known as a silver carver and dugout canoe maker during his lifetime. Katzeek was probably born in the 1800’s and was up there in age in the 40’s and 50’s, which is when he passed away. I am assuming that this cedar plaque was carved in the late teens or 1920’s. Don’t know much about the history other than it came from a local estate in Juneau. Katzeek is part of a long lineage of skilled artisans. Please check out my other great and rare Alaskan auctions.
