    Description

Antique/Vintage Pacific Northwest Primitive Hand Carved Effigy with 2 figures.  I had this appraised years ago and the appraiser said that it might be Haida, saying that it looked like red cedar and consistent with Pacific Northwest regional carvings.  It measures approx. 13" long, 4" wide and stands 5" tall.  It is a very dense wood which is heavy and weighs 3 lbs. 15 oz. on my USPS digital mailing scale.  There is some paint loss in the engraved design and a small chip on one end of the bottom.  The bottom ends have arches so this piece rocks like a cradle.  To me, it appears that one of the figures is male and the other female and was probably used in some ritual.  Please look at all of the photos carefully as they are an integral part of the description and email with any questions before bidding.  Your feedback will get mine.  Thanks!
