I took this in trade from a good friend who had decided to give up on detecting. I took it
in-trade towards a rare beautiful giant 114 pound float copper nugget from Michigan's U.P.
This detector is in nearly new condition and has been fully tested.
Don't let someone talk you out of buying the small coil, this is the one I would want!
This coil will find the big targets, at an amazing depths, like anchors, props & motors . . . that is the easy stuff!
The hard-to-find targets are the small jewelry items . . . which is where this coil shines!
Also, while no detector is perfect, in discrimination all modern detectors work with
a phase-delay technology. This means, in simple terms, when the detector reads a negative target's
signature, the detector does a short shut-down pause . . . then self recovers.
The multi-frequency detectors are known to have great advantages depth-wise, but recovery speed is not one of their strong suits.
The smaller coil with a narrow field pattern, tricks the detector into a faster recovery speed
which makes it more effective in high trash!
Also, the smaller coil works better around rocks, brush & weeds!
Best of all it is easier to push through the surf!

The 8 inch coil is a better choice for the older swimming areas
where you have moderate to high trash levels.
Also, the 8 inch coil is easier to pinpoint with, and it is more sensitive
to the smaller gold jewelry. Also, in areas of electrical or radio
interference, the 8 inch coil is a better choice than the 10 inch.
